CAPE MAY POINT ENVIRONMENTAL COMMISSION

 

June 9, 2010

 

Present:  Chairman Sally Sachs, Marguerite Chandler, Toni Keiser, Mildred Morgan, Joe Nietubicz, and Bill Schuhl.

 

Absent:  Ann Brecker, Ed Grant, and Dianna Wentink.

 

Sally called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M., advising that it was in accordance with Chapter 32 of the Law of New Jersey, the Open Public Meetings Act. 

 

The May minutes were approved as distributed. 

 

Correspondence:  1) May Permit Activity Report.  2) Application by Frederick A. Benoit and Deborah Guilloz to establish freshwater wetlands or to conduct regulated activities on the property at 501/503 East Lake Avenue. 

 

Old Business:  1) Marguerite reported no new activity on the bicycle path.  2) Mildred volunteered to help Marguerite hand out light bulbs at the picnic. 

 

New Business:  None.

 

Planning Board:  No report. 

 

Friends of Lake Lily:  Joe reported that the algaecide application is working well.  There is still a duckweed problem, though the swans and geese do appear to be eating it. 

 

Commissioner’s Report:  Joe advised that we are getting ready for summer, with ongoing lifeguard tryouts.  Beach tags will become mandatory on June 12.    The lottery for beach boxes will be on June 10. 

 

The meeting was adjourned at 9:46 A.M.  The next meeting of the Environmental Commission is scheduled for July 14, 2010, 9:30 A.M. at Borough Hall.
